You don't need to use an ARC HDMI output to control the TV with a Roku remote. The Roku remote can be programmed to control the TV independent of the HDMI output. And, if you have a soundbar, you can connect the soundbar to the optical audio output on the TV, and program the Roku remote to control the soundbar. An ARC HDMI connection is not needed. Some TVs do not even have an ARC HDMI connection.
