The more things change, the more they remain the same. Back UpNort, we saw this phenomenon a day or two before a blizzard. "Storm rush", one of the HyVee managers called it. People waiting until the last minute to get prepared, then a surge of panic-buying meant the stores were scenes of near-chaos.
MUCH easier (and a lot cheaper) to maintain a state of readiness at all times. We're set: car and golf cart full of gas; generator likewise (and run up three days ago to make sure); plenty of water, TP and food on hand; emergency kit well-stocked, plenty of flashlights and plenty of batteries for the flashlights, six gallons of cabernet sauvignon wine finished and ready for bottling, etc. etc. Last-minute stuff will include bringing the patio plants inside, filling the bathtub with water, and making sure all chargeables such as iPads, phones, etc. are charged up.
Won't be fun, but we're ready.
