Why stop there? Since we all know that drivers will exceed the posted speed limit by 10mph on an unobstructed roadway with an artificially low limit, if you want any potential collision to occur at 45mph then it should be marked as a 35mph maximum. Maybe even 25mph just to be safe.

OR, we could resist catering to the most fearful or least capable and instead require drivers to act appropriately. Don’t run red lights, don’t dart out into traffic, don’t let impatience impair your judgement, and basically, don’t do stupid stuff.

And if 44 is simply too dangerous then use 44A or 466A.

Why do people insist on making claims without looking them up first, do they really think no one will check? Proof by emphatic assertion rarely works.
