If the main circuit breaker "blew" the entire house would be dark. If one side of the main breaker failed, then half of the 120 volt devices would not work and ALL of the 240 volt devices would not work. I would double check all of the breakers and make sure these are not tripped. NOTE: You must force the braker handle to the full OFF position and then to the ON position.
Finally, I would contact Seniors Against Crime and file a complaint.
