BUT THEN.......Hurricane Milton caused 25-30K of damage to my home. After playing their game, the "desk adjuster" decided that the damage is $7,200 and is "required" to send me a check for that amount. Required???? She said they could send a different "field adjuster" but since she has the final word, the result would be the same. And that's her "final" word.
FINAL??????..... I don't think so. Now, I have the joy of having hired a public adjuster who along with my attorney will take it from here on. The sad part is that this is all an insurance game. They both stated that once it gets to the stage of threatening a lawsuit, the insurer will fold since it costs more to defend the litigation than paying the claim.
WHY????....Because 63% of Florida homeowners take whatever the insurer first pays and won't pursue the claim---so from a financial standpoint it makes sense. So much for morality and customer service.
Also, if you go to You Tube and Search for "60 minutes--Florida insurance" you'll get a real eye-opener---it aired 4 weeks ago. "Desk adjusters" arbitrarily reducing field adjuster's estimate by 70,80,90% or more---the worst example being an estimate of $438,000 in damage being paid $3,000. Not to mention them forging adjusters' reports
Well, that's my Progressive experience so far---your milage may vary.

We also have $40,000 in damage from Milton. Just to remove the tree was $6,500. Field adjuster is independent, we also gave him the original quotes from the 8 month old property that was damaged, also estimates for the damage to rebuild.
That was 16 days ago. Desk adjuster also an independent, sent email field estimate and our rebuild estimate has been received. Hope we don’t have the same issues. BTW was the $7,200 after your deductible?
