Even though the Dodgers won in five games, the Series was very close. One of the best World Series that I have seen in years. Three of the games came down to the last inning where one of the teams had the tying or go ahead home run on base or at the plate.
In game 1, the Dodgers were down to their last out in the 10th inning before Freeman hit his grand slam. If he had made an out, the Yankees would have won game 1.
In game 2, the Yankees were down 2 in the 9th inning and had the bases loaded with one out and failed to score.
And in game 5, the Yankees had the tying run at the plate in the bottom of the 9th but failed to score.
However, the 5th inning of game 5 was perhaps the worst inning in World Series history. I did a quick search and I think 5 unearned runs in an inning is the most ever in World Series history! Two errors and the pitcher failing to cover first on a routine grounder.
