I was surprised to learn there were so many German immigrants going west. I thought they all stopped in Cincinnati and started raising pigs and making beer.

1883 made me think more than the others, about a lot of things, including wondering if those of us whose ancestors headed west, way west, are made of tougher stuff than those of us whose ancestors stopped at Ohio.
