Anywhere humans go they alter their surroundings. The more humans, the greater the alterations.
Once, we were a part of nature. Now, we (8 billion and growing exponentially) have become a force of nature. Great, powerful in our destruction and reshaping of our planet. Like a child with a gun, they realize they have something powerful, but they can't begin to comprehend the never ending list of consequences of their potential choices of action.
