Beware - The Villages theatres do not advertise that their theatres do not show 3-D. Avatar and Christmas Carol, are shown in 2-D.
I bought our tickets to see Avatar and went in, then discovered that there was no 3-D. When I asked about the glasses, they said "we did not advertise that it was in 3-D". I had to stand in line again to get a refund, then she tried to act like I was stupid. They did not advertise that it was in color, or in English either, but maybe it's too much to expect them to tell us in advance that they cannot show 3-D. It is a 3-D move! The big draw is the new 3-D technology. I guess they think we are all so stupid that we won't know the difference. The Villages theatres should be more forthright. They should at least put a sign in the box office window.
When movie theaters run a movie which includes a 3-D version they will advertise it as "3-D." Otherwise it is shown in the traditional format.
All a person needs to know what version is being shown is to read either the movie poster (which will advertise 3-D if, in fact, it is shown in that format), or look at the marquee which will also have the "3-D" listed next to the title.
