I blow through stop signs at full speed on my bike when all these conditions are met:
1. I'm in the process of going uphill OR
1a. The other side of the intersection is the beginning of an incline.
2. There is no one else coming on any side of the intersection.
I also do the following, when there is traffic at a 4-way intersection:
I wait until ALL cars have passed before riding through. If someone tries to wave me on, I get off my bicycle completely and look away from whoever tried to do that.
Reason for that: YOU might want to wave me on, but the person who was at the other side of the intersection before YOU got there, might not. I don't care who has the right of way. To me - the person who can kill me easiest has the right of way.
