The beauty of science is that it is never "settled" completely. True science isn't corrupt. But, certain groups or individuals may misrepresent, distort, hide, misuse the results of scientific enquiry. Science is the search for truth. Nothing more. Nothing sinister. But many want to hide the truth for many, many reasons, criminal, political, religious, etc. Don't blame science, blame the ones who misuse it.

There certainly have been some huge scientific discoveries that change or scientific knowledge. I do not recall anything about weather that much. Except that they are getting a lot better predicting it.
