That's because Marion County would not give up their numbering nomenclature. The developer wanted street names only, the county wanted county quadrants and numbers (like Miami and other cities in Florida). The compromise was what we have now. They both got their way. But try addressing two envelopes, one with 1234 Pine St. and one with 1234 SE 187th St., and they will both get there. The Post Office has both in their Zip system.
