Most New Yorker's have quite a distinguishable accent and having some very good friends from that part of the country, it does require astute listening skills.........but man oh man.....some of dem can really cook!!

I live near New York City and I can tell you, they have their own dialects. in Brooklyn they put earl in their car's engine. Every bathroom is has a terlet. R's are pronounced ah at the end of the word.
