Purchase a ColorQ pool testing kit and take care of your own pool. Purchase a Chlorox bag of Chlorine Stabilizer, PH Up, PH Down, and a 40 lb bag of salt if your pool uses a Chlorine generator. You might need a bag of Alkalinity increaser and a bag of Calcium Hardness increaser if you need to balance those chemicals. A quart of Liquid Clarifier is handy too if the pool isn't sparkling. I also purchased a battery operated salt reader to keep my salt levels balanced to my Hayward Goldline AquaRite salt reading. I might brush the walls once a month in the hot months if I see anything clinging to the walls. And lastly I have a cordless robot cleaner to vacuum any loose debris off the bottom and scrub my walls. Truthfully, pool maintenance is that simple. Usually I can ColorQ test my water every 2 weeks in the warm months unless I get an unusual reading. Then I test weekly until I achieve proper chemical balance. I have no idea what it costs to have a pool company come out once a week since I have cleaned my own pools for about 30 years now but I know for sure the cost is more than taking care of my own pool.
