You don't see corrosion, you see the byproduct of corrosion. "Rust" is the byproduct of iron corrosion. If you see rust then you know corrosion is occurring.

Looks like to me rust and corrosion are the same or will eventually be the same over time. Can metal rust through without corrosion?
