When I purchased my Gravley Zero Turn mower it came standard with a Kohler engine, and for a slightly higher price I opted for the premium Kawasaki engine upgrade. They compete just fine in the nitches they choose to pursue. Nine years of hard usage on my Gravley without a single engine issue.
