Because many greens are mostly painted dirt, the ground was scuffed up and putting was not anywhere close to true. Ball would it a scuffed part and deviate from it's path. I talked to the pro after the round...very nice guy...good conversation. He said head of maintenance putted greens before they opened and said it was good to go. I suggested the maintenance guy go back and putt those greens in the afternoon after traffic tore up the dirt...see if he still thought is was OK to be open. This course should be closed or they should give a discount for playing it. We should not pay premium green fees for playing on dirt. My 25 guys in my group all feel the same way. It's not the pro's fault BTW. They had disease and bad weather that wiped out the greens...but they could discount them if players wanted to play on dirt.
I totally get it: feels like a ripoff. This is something we should never experience at our neighborhood golf course
