He went off and got a reconditioned modem/router (M/R) in a sealed box and accessed my account, canceling my current connection. He then sent me a text message. However, when Jose called us over he said that we would now have to wait for another M/R to come by courier as the account was now set up direct, not through him. We complained at the unfairness of life and he went to talk to the big cheese who sorted it out for us, so we left the store with our M/R in hand.

Our original connection was still live so we didn't fire up NOW until this morning. You need an internet connection to do (although I suspect a phone call to Comcast would work, too). Took about five minutes in total (needed to reboot) and all working well.

I signed up for the 100Mbps for $30 per month, or there is a 200Mbps for $45. When direct-connected I am getting 85 down and 8 up (slightly lower when wireless) which is fine for my needs.

There is no "Vacation Plan" with NOW. According to Jose you have to cancel your account when you leave then go on-line and sign up for a new account when you get back. However, the Xfinity FAQs say you can just cancel autopay and the service will stop at the end of the prepaid month. Restarting autopay will reactivate the service, using the same account.

Will post again if I find any problems, or when the price goes up.

Do you have an extra charge for the M/R, or is the complete price $30?
