Default A Musician's Take on This

I don't play or even live in The Villages (YET!), but I can tell you as one who plays the guitar that it gets difficult to play when it is cold. Your fingers are just not as nimble. More important perhaps, cold weather can really cause problems with guitars. Not only is it difficult to keep it in tune, it can result in permanent damage to the instrument (especially acoustics). That may be part of the issue from the musicians viewpoint. To supply a heat source (if it is uneven as it no doubt would be outside) might even make the problem worse. As an example, taking a guitar from a cold car into a warm room requires that the instrument be left in the case (with the case just cracked open slightly) for about a half hour so that it can gradually acclimate.
