The old accounts on Yahoo aren't going defunct. The accounts are still valid and work just fine. What's changed is the layout of their e-mail system. You still use your normal usual old yahoo e-mail account, and it still pulls up all your old e-mails that you got back in 1997 and never bothered to delete, and all the 5000 spam e-mails you get every month are still in your spam box.
It just has a different appearance, and the functionality is slightly different, according to folks on this thread.
I use the previous version of yahoo and switched when the option was available. So I don't have to see the new version at all.
