When we got our relatively new smart meter, the installer told us about this so contacted Seco.
If you allow them to adjust your thermostat a few degrees when they have heavy demand you get a small discount but also they took off $ 50 on the last bill to say thanks.
Will see if this will make our house uncomfortable in very warm weather so we do have the option to discontinue.
