I've cleared many toilets, especially in my days working in a men's college dorm. Never met a true clog that could not be cleared with a bulbous plunger. When sealed correctly and filled with water it is virtually unstoppable. The force of water exceeds that of the force of air. However, you start flushing toys, clothing, diapers, or dormitory pool table balls, you might need an auger.
