Liquid lights (there is a company using same name for lighting on golf carts) have been installed in pool birdcages on top beams, for years. They have the look of solid beams of lights not spot lights. Think tube lights
In two of our old neighborhood multiple pools had them across the pond. Far enough away from us, but close neighbors complained frequently about the brightness, and chasing colors at neighborhood gatherings and website.
Even though we didn’t bring up liquid lights during birdcage interviews, it was brought to our attention that certain lighting was no longer allowed, on Birdcage beams
