The Villages seems to becoming a caricature of what a lot of outsiders claim The Villages really is. A lot of folks are determined to create the tackiest, carnival atmosphere possible. Some of the golf carts look like a 16 year old's idea of "cool" ... in the 60's. It's embarrassing. How can a grownup believe lining the eaves of their home with flashing LED lights, is appropriate, cool or attractive?

Perhaps people think this kind of lighting keeps them safe, but I consider it noise pollution. I have neighbors who installed blindingly bright white LED lights (like car headlights) behind their house last month, I suppose so their surveillance cameras will get better color videos. They come on now and then for a few minutes (I suppose when a bug walks past or something). I can’t stand them. They light up my living room and bedroom walls. I’m just glad they aren’t on all the time. Some people buy outdoor lighting without considering that others may not want to see up their homes lighted up—especially with tacky multi-colored lights.
