So I know I brought up this subject, but I didn't really mean to pick on Katy Perry.
15 years ago, my GF's daughter had a best friend in High School, dying from a very rare form of cancer. The young girl's "goal in life", was to graduate from High School ... she never made it.
Early in her Senior Year, she was in Children's Hospital in Boston. Her Mom got a call one afternoon. Katy Perry was in Boston for an event and would like to visit with her daughter at the hospital. Katy's staff explained the young girl was welcome to invite one of her friends to visit, but her mother was asked to maintain complete secrecy and not tell anyone, especially the Press, about what was going on. (It's possible the "Make a Wish" foundation or some group like that was involved, I don't know those details.)
My GF's daughter was the "friend" who was invited. Katy Perry showed up without an entourage, sat around & chatted & sang with the 2 girls for over an hour.
So whatever Katy Perry is in her "public persona", she's a pretty good person in real life.
