Your pastor is not just there to teach The Bible. The second most important teaching behind following Christ is working with marriages/family. The training they go through as part of their "job" is actually better than what a family therapist learns in school. Your pastor is there 24/7 to listen, a friend who guides, and is not for profit. The pastor will add you to [their] daily prayer. Plus, you would be in much better hands and I don't mean the pastor's hands.
But I have only been married 37 years as of this past week (4/30). Met with our pastor twice over the years. Never regretted it and no marriage is perfect.
