Tightly written.

A psychological study.

Attention to detailed portrayal of every character, cast in roles both big and small, some done with perfect we-all-know-the-type-of-person humor -- and others not funny at all.

Twists and turns in the plot, just when you feel bad for one character, you turn a corner.

One episode clearly showing what can happen when a woman is caught behind a door with a powerful sleazeball who will make every smart woman's skin crawl. That particular episode is written in a style that creates some really ugly tension. Women watching will be uncomfortable, to say the least, and will have to be thinking about how that long scene will end. During that scene, there will be women in the watching audience who have found themselves in similar situations, although perhaps more nuanced, when a smile, a clever, too gentle deflection, and a quick exit worked. Some of my sister-boomers will remember and know exactly what I am talking about. (Spoiler: It's not over 'til it's over.)

The varying levels of misogyny all pool into one.

"Hell hath no fury," etc.

Douglas Is Cancelled is one of the best written things I have seen on television recently.
