Your grandparents had no barriers. They simply showed up at the door and were admitted to try to secure a better life for their family. Immigrants today seek the same...a better life for their family. Your ancestors were pretty much freeloaders on the church and the community they lived in until they were able to provide for themselves and their family.
These immigrants, who were rounded up by ICE, were earning money for themselves and their families and paying taxes. Those taxes were paid into the IRS and Social Security so that you could receive your SS benefits. So, lets stop villainizing hard working people who are trying to accomplish the same things as your ancestors did. The only difference is they have brown skin while yours is white and the racist laws that exist legitimize some immigrants while villainizing others.
