Thank you for all the insightful responses. I appreciate all the carefully considered input. Also glad no one without practical experience chimed in to tell me to sell the gas carts and go with electric.
CarlR33, the car cannot stay on the driveway because it would be there unmoved from May until December every year. Not only unprotected and uncovered, but a neighbor eyesore if not a ARC violation.
I would love to see how Janie123 and WesternRider75's neighbor accomplishes the task. I understand that a golf-cart garage in addition to a 2-car would be heavenly. In fact, when the number of bedrooms in a house is an important real estate metric, I would give up bedrooms for more garage space. Truthfully, I would take house that had a single primary suite, a kitchen and living room and then all the rest was garage but Mrs. EDJ would certainly not approve.
For what it's worth, each of these golf carts is bigger than the standard 2-person cart. One is a 2+2 Yamaha Adventurer with the 2 rear-facing seats and the other is an Atomic Kool Cart (yeah- I know, don't get me started. I'm not a fan. However, Mrs. EDJ wants her A/C and Mrs. EDJ more often than not gets what she wants. Hence two separate carts, I will not be caught dead in one if I can avoid it, just like I will never push a pet in a pet-stroller. A man has to have his lines in the sand or he is no man at all).
I've never seen a patio villa (Moonstone or Emerald) wherein someone has taken the front lanai, put in a couple of French-style screened doors on the side so that a cart could be stored (and covered) during absences. It's an idea though.
