For the longest time, my favorite Bond was Sean Connery followed by Timothy Dalton. Then Daniel Craig came along and knocked it out of the park. When I thought about it, Timothy Dalton could have been nearly as good as Craig if he'd been given the same scripts, directors and budgets.
Similarly, my favorite film for the longest time was Thunderball. But after the Bourne Identity films came out, the Bond films seemed totally outdated (the Connery era) or just silly (all the rest, particularly the Moore era). Now, my favorite film is probably Casino Royale though the rest of the Craig era are nearly as good to me.
That said, I'm looking forward to the release of the Connery era films in 4K and will no doubt get copies and watch them all and enjoy them for what they were.
