I think people may be confusing censorship with Freedom of Speech. Two totally different things.

Freedom of speech is protected in The first amendment. It guarantees that the government will not pass a law forbidding you to speak in a public place.

Censorship comes from the Latin "to give ones opinion." It is a broad based term with many contemporary meanings. One encyclopedia describes it as "
supervision and control of the information and ideas circulated within a society. In modern times, censorship refers to the examination of media including books, periodicals, plays, motion pictures, and television and radio programs for the purpose of altering or suppressing parts thought to be offensive. The offensive material may be considered immoral or obscene, heretical or blasphemous, seditious or treasonable, or injurious to the national security"

Ask yourself this questions. "If I owned a radio or TV station, newspaper or internet forum, would I let everybody say anything they wish to say anytime they want to say it?" Further ask, "would I ever draw a line, where would that line be?" "Dare I allow totally unrestricted speaking of opinion?"
