We moved from a heavily wooded community in Michigan where we AVERAGED power outages 5-6 times per year from several hours to several days at a time. This was due to above ground wiring and dead trees (ash borer mostly) that homeowners negligently would not cut down, as well as slow response time from the utility. Had to have our home wired for a portable back up generator just to manage living there.
Since moving to the Villages three years ago, not one power loss. Don't miss moving a heavy gen, keeping it filled with gas, and listening to it run along with those of all my former neighbors.

Our average Michigan power loss was 47-63 days per year, sometimes 8-10 days dead of winter, from ice storms bringing down trees and power lines.
Squirrels were the issues two days ago for a power loss of 6 1/2 hours.
Have to chuckle at complaining 2 hour power loss once or twice a year.
