It depends on what you score.

Someone who's shooting in the 90's, probably only needs to know exact distance, within 10 yards.

I'm typically accurate within 3 yards, with an 8 Iron or less ... I want to know my exact distance.

Johnny Miller wanted his distances within 1/2 yard with his irons.
