U.S. is behind on fiber because it is far ahead in copper infrastructure.
Countries, such as China, with developing technologies, are not replacing anything...U.S. companies have billions of dollars in copper landline that have to be replaced to introduce fiber. With that costly infrastructure in place, it is really surprising that they are introducing fiber as much as they are.
Competition is the driver!
