I found a cool very tiny program that will show you all the wifis around you, their signal strength and what channels they use.
It is called wifiinfoview (wifiinfoview.com)
After viewing the nearby congested router channels, you can log into your router and change the channel.
Choosing an unused channel worked great for me and helped with hiccups I was having.
You can go their web site to download, but I had difficulty with downloading it so I have attached a working version here.
I don't think it even needs to be installed on your computer.
I put it on a usb stick and tried running it from there and it worked fine.
