Here is a pic of the cornice board that I just finished for our guest bedroom. I also used some of the fabric and made some matching pillows for the bed. I used a kit that I purchased at JoAnn Fabrics to make the cornice board, and it was quite simple. I like the look of a cornice board on a smaller window (door walls are such a huge expanse, that sometimes the cornice boards look a little large to me) particularly if your curtains are an inside mount. It makes the window look a little more finished. Just my opinion.

And even if it is out of style, you won't have to change it again when they come back in style in a few years!
