What is bad is presenting the scary facts to frighten people into running out and making purchases but not providing the balancing facts that they should also be considering.

13 homes burned in the past year after being struck by lightning but 84,900 homes did not and over 70,000 did not burn in the last ten years. Either very, very few homes get hit by lightning here or few lightning strikes result in fires.

Losing a home is tragic. A LPS can likely save a home that would otherwise burn. But not all homes will be hit and not all those that are hit will burn.
I agree with this these statements, however, that doesn't mean I can't buy lightning insurance, in the form of LPS, to minimize the loss of home usage or having to be relocated while the insurance company, and the contractors can't get the home rebuilt. . very low risk, very high inconvenience . . . I am more concerned with not getting rebuilt / not having the insurance company pay for damages, than I am of getting hit. . it's similar to golf cart accidents. . very low risk, very high inconvenience in physical terms. . so yes, I wear my seat belt and slow down often when the situation is questionable. .

and many can easily afford the one time installation costs.
