Same here, except have used gas stoves since childhood in 50s/60s when as kids my four siblings and I would fight over the two electric wall heaters in our small home during winter, causing one or two of us to use the gas burners on the kitchen stove to warm up. No ventilation that I can remember either. 72 now and still kicking, lol.
