On a positive note, today we returned from a 7-day cruise of the Western Caribbean -- the "Rocky and the Rollers" cruise. Royal Caribbean carried supplies on our "Freedom of the Seas" ship to its Ocho Rios site in northern Haiti...a total of 175 palettes or eight truckloads worth. Since the port in Port au Prince was leveled by the earthquake, there have been few alternatives: either fly in by plane or over land from the Dominican Republic. UN trucks were at Ocho Rios to transport this load (water, medical supplies, non-perishable food) from our ship down to the quake area -- some 90 miles.
Forget the political posturing on this site and in the media...everyone's pitching in to help these people who have been abused for decades by local politicians and foreign profiteers.
