I have been looking at plants for the same purpose, and I want something that will have leaves year round. So I have been happy to see that most of the plants that were of interest to me stayed green even through the big freeze that we had a few weeks ago. The one that looks like it grows really fast and is big and bushy is the bottle brush bush. And it stayed green! I also like the oleander bushes, but I haven't found out if those are as fast growing yet. We still have some time before I have to make a decision, since they haven't started on a house behind us yet. Our lot is supposed to be offset, so I shouldn't need too much in landscaping.
