Yeah, I agree Hawk. But, I just don't see Verizon jumping out of their six county area around Tampa. I think that was originally a GTE area that was acquired when Verizon absorbed GTE. Some cable outfits here on Long Island have pushed fiber to neighborhood "zones" but the home runs are still coaxial cable. FIOS is different in that the fiber comes right to the side of your house where it terms to a ONT (optical network terminal) that splits it up to become phone, cable and internet. The cable provider currently in The Villages could probably bring fiber to the neighborhoods but I doubt they'll bring it all the way to the homes. Why would they bother in that they have no ground based competition at least that I know of.
