There is the ferry that will take you up as far as Haines I believe. You should visit the Alaska State web site and there should be a lot of great information on there. Just remember that some areas of Alaska are very remote and not a lot of convenience along the way. My sister lives in Anchorage and I usually make that my base and do my other trips from there. You can take the train to Denali Park and it is a slow but wonderful trip. You need to book that early though because summer time fills up fast. Seward is accessible by car and so is Kenai and down to Homer, beautiful trips down to those area. I also have flown over the Arctic circle to Kotzubue and then down to Nome.
