I love almost everything about the Olympics and regularly record every night's broadcast. I usually start watching it an hour or two after it starts so I can skip through commercials and events for which I have no interest.
I know I'm in the minority on this, but one of the things I like about the olympics is the "Up Close and Personal" segments about the individual competitors. I also like the spots that they do about various aspects of the home country that help us get a glimpse at some of the things that make it unique.
I disagree about Lindsay Vaughn. I think she has nothing to be sorry or apologetic for. She was racing hard and had an accident - something that is part of the sport. She did nothing that required an apology. I can understand Mancuso's frustration with having her run disrupted but thought that she was acting a bit too much like a diva - as if she was in gold medal contention were it not for that ... she wasn't. On her second attempt she was maintaining the same pace that she had on her first. This was not enough to get her into medal contention.
