I think they'd have a better shot at selling their package if they said "We're no longer going to subsidize the world, paying more than EVERYONE and getting less than most - with the money saved, we will cover those we can".

I think this is what gets lost in the partisan bickering. We pay not just more, but the MOST - and we can't cover everyone.
