Donna2: I believe it is a combination of two. This same friend with the rotator cuff problem took his son to the USA to have a back operation. His out of pocket cost was almost $70,000. His son was waiting to see a doctor for almost two years in Canada. Yet this same friend to this day defends the Canadian health care system. DUH
He is retired now but he was still paying almost at a 50% tax rate.
I was lucky enough to spend two weeks in Canada in November. I can NOT believe the taxes they pay on lodging, food or almost anything else.
Most of my friends told me they were happy with their health care. Now when I compare their Taxes with ours there is NO way I would trade.
NO socialized Health care for me.
