The only answer that matters is what you want. The trick it to develop a short list of things you like to do and play out how a particular location works.
One thing my wife and I enjoy is going to town square on a nice evening (this has not worn off in 3 years). We pack a beverage and drive down in the cart. There are nights that Town square is not so great, so we leave after 20 minutes.
We would not do that so often if the ride was a 25 minute commitment each way, since our ride is <10 ... so what, if we come right home....
We settled somewhere around the middle in Mallory. This was not by our grand plan or deep investigation, it was where the dirt was when we were buying. IMO this location has the advantage of all golf courses being available to us. We like to golf all the courses. From where we are a trip to Lopez or Amberwood will be no further than a trip to southern most one after it is done.
My Dad lives in Chatham (AND LOVES IT), but for him to play the future executive course south of 466A may require a trailer for his electric cart
. A 60 minute ride to Brownwood, etc....
I like where we are for
US, but it may not be the best location for
you, As others have said, everywhere is nice in TV, you have to think about how you will spend your time and play that out on a map or better yet when you visit....
