K-9,

We're in Delaware and have had only 1 outage in the last 3-4 years. It was the Saturday before this past Super Bowl during the worst blizzard we've seen since I can remember.

Since the dish is physically located just above our ranch's gutters, it was not that difficult to get a ladder from the garage and go up to knock off the snow that had accumulated. Lucky for us since we had folks over for a Super Bowl party the next day!

On the contrary though, we had numerous outages with Comcast that they were never able to figure out. It would consistently go down between 4-6 PM when Oprah was on so wifey was none too happy. That frustration, along with their blase attitude towards customers, made me leave them.

As an aside, we did have Verizon FIOS for a year. Picture quality was great but I didn't like having to pay for a box on every TV and their DVR was not as good (feature and performance-wise) as Dish's.

Thanks for everyone's input!
