Progressive Party once again
What really stands out in Pelosi's speech is her reference to President Teddy Roosevelt's Progressive agenda.
“As you are in Washington this week, we stand at the doorstep of history, ready to realize a centuries old dream, started by a Republican President, Teddy Roosevelt. He was the one who started this country thinking in this direction, and we are deeply in his dept. But, we are a hundred years late..." Pelosi said.
Roosevelt started the Progressive Party of 1912, nicknamed the Bull Moose Party, after he couldn't get nominated by the Republicans for a second run at the Presidency. The agenda of The Progressive Party of 1912 included changing the U.S. Constitution, banking reforms, health insurance reform, workers compensation changes, major social and welfare reform; all of which makes the government bigger and dependency of the public greater.
