If the car was self driving, it would not have wound up in the water. The woman drove herself in the water. Statistics show self driving vehicles are involved in fewer crashes and injury than people driven vehicles. 68% lower overall crash rate and a 81% reduction in injury crashes. The fear of self driving vehicles is an emotional issue not a statistical one.
