A few other considerations:

• Florida Carriage Museum (20 minutes)
• Renninger's Antique Mall and Flea Market in Mt Dora (30 minutes)
• there are several interesting things to do in Tarpon Springs (1.5 hours away) including sponge diving, fishing, etc.
• manatees around Crystal River (1 hr)
• Daytona Speedway and Daytona Beach (1.75 hrs)
• Cypress Gardens (1.75 hrs)
• a different way to see the Orlando area is in a hot air balloon, for example
• Silver Springs in Ocala
• Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing near Ocala

If you are interested in aviation:

• Kennedy Space Center

If you are interested war birds:

• WarBird Adventures at the Kissimmee Airport where you can take a ride in an AT-6 WW2 trainer
• Kissimmee Air Museum at the Kissimee Airport
• Fantasy of Flight near Polk City, about half way between Orlando and Tampa
• Stallion51 Mustang also at the Kissimmee Airport where you can take a ride in a P-51 (bring $ and guts)
